Germany's first charging park in Duisburg
The expansion of the charging infrastructure is a relevant factor on the road to electromobility. Fast charging points are particularly necessary in large cities. The first public charging park for electric cars was opened in Duisburg.
The “Electromobility in metropolises – fast charging for everyday urban life” project uses an intelligent energy management system to combine four 150 kW DC fast-charging stations under a solar roof with an annual yield of 26,000 kWh of green electricity, equivalent to 200,000 kilometres of driving. Thanks to the photovoltaic systems, the charging park is virtually self-sufficient. In addition, thanks to the integrated battery station with 210 kWh capacity, the load on the grid is significantly minimised. Vehicles are usually charged within 20 minutes at the rapid charging stations. In addition to the rapid charging points, there are four conventional charging points, meaning that the facility has space for a total of eight electric cars that can be charged here.
The charging park was opened in October 2018 by innogy together with Stadtwerke Duisburg. The fast-charging columns were supplied by Porsche and Delta, while the battery storage system comes from Belectric. Neugebauer supervised the project in the areas of cabling, earthing and commissioning. Neugebauer also installed the exterior lighting and security technology.
