The expansion of the charging infrastructure is a relevant factor on the way to electromobility. Fast charging points are particularly necessary in large cities. In Duisburg, the first public charging park for electric cars was opened.

The project "Electromobility in Metropolises - Fast Charging for Everyday Urban Life" combines four direct current fast charging stations, each with 150 kW power under a solar roof, via an intelligent energy management system, with an annual yield of 26,000 kWh of green electricity, equivalent to 200,000 driving kilometers. Thanks to the photovoltaic systems, the charging park is almost self-sufficient. In addition, thanks to the integrated battery station with 210 kWh capacity, the grid load is significantly minimised. Vehicles are usually charged within 20 minutes at the rapid charging stations. In addition to the rapid charging points, there are four classic charging points, so that the system has space for a total of eight electric cars that can be charged here.
